Without a doubt a challenge, considering recent times, when it is so difficult to launch new projects. Yours, aimed at sectors and professionals who have particularly suffered the effects of this severe crisis in which we are involved, will be a major boost and a necessary reference for readers who will stick out its pages, using new technologies. Inauguration of T-18 Ayer día 29 de Junio de 2011, tuvo lugar en el Auditorio de CatalunyaCaixa de la Pedrera (Barcelona), la inauguración de una nueva revista de Arquitectura, Paisaje y Diseño, T18. El acto fue presidido por el Sr. Jaume Fornt, Director de l'Habitatge de Catalunya de la GG.CC. y el Sr. Xavier Ventura, Director Territorial de CX de la provincia de Barcelona. Esta nueva revista nace en formato digital, solamente, y es completamente gratuita y descargable en formato pdf, en su totalidad, o por cualquier selección de páginas, además de que puede visualizarse como cualquier libro o revista digital. Las obras presentadas están esparcidas por diversos países, en este primer número encontramos obras, proyectos o diseños en Noruega, Chile, Japón, España, Finlandia y Dinamarca. Sus creadores, Octavio Mestre y Xavier Alba, arquitectos los dos, comentaron que T18 pretende dar a conocer proyectos estén donde estén, y sean de quien sean. Un altavoz de los sin voz, por decirlo de alguna manera. "Nos importa la calidad del proyecto y no el autor, justamente al contrario de lo que nos tienen acostumbrado el resto de revistas del sector. T-18 tendrá una frecuencia ctura, paisaje, diseño, crítica, técnica y un punto de vista humanista que pensamos se ha perdido en la Arquitectura". La revista es completamente gratuita, gracias a la colaboración de sponsors, en este primer número CatalunyaCaixa, Cortizo, Cosentino, Figueras y Gradhermetic, si bien hay ya más interesados en colaborar a partir del próximo número. Durante el acto se pudo ver también un video de saludo de Mercè Conesa, Alcaldesa de Sant Cugat del Vallés, ya que la sede social de T18 está allí ubicada, y otro de Sergio Aguilar, arquitecto catalán afincado en Chile, que como colaborador permanente da, a través de su sección "El Escondite", una visión humanista de la arquitectura. Se explicó el funcionamiento de la web y la descarga de la revista, todo muy sencillo e intuitivo y finalmente se leyó una nota enviada por Juan Rosell, Presidente de la CEOE, animando y felicitando a los editores de este nuevo proyecto, que en su opinión tiene muchos componentes de éxito. Si bien existen infinidad de revistas, muchas también de arquitectura, y otras menos descargables, no conocíamos hasta ahora, ninguna con este formato, descargable y sobre todo y es realmente un signo de identidad que la diferencia del resto, gratuita. Tal vez estemos a las puertas de una nueva manera de entender el negocio de las publicaciones. Sólo el tiempo lo dirá. De momento ya tenemos el botón de muestra. Animamos a los lectores sean o no del sector a conocerla y que juzguen por sí mismos. No necesario registrarse para verla o descargarla. Como dice el refrán, una imagen vale más que mil palabras. June 30th 2011 Yesterday, June the 29th, 2011, the presentation of a new magazine of Architecture, Landscape and Design, T18, was held at the Auditorium CatalunyaCaixa La Pedrera (Barcelona). The event was chaired by Mr. Jaume Fornt, Director of "Habitatge de Catalunya" of the "Generalitat de Catalunya", and Xavier Ventura, Regional Director of CX in the province of Barcelona. This new magazine is born only in a digital format, and is completely free and downloadable in a pdf file, the whole magazine or any selection of pages, and it also can be online viewed as any digital book or magazine. The projects published are located in different countries; in this first issue we find works, projects or designs in Norway, Chile, Japan, Spain, Finland and Denmark. Its creators, Octavio Mestre and Xavier Alba, both architects, commented that T-18 aims to make known projects no matter where they are or who they are designed by. A voice for the voiceless, to put it somehow. "We care about the quality of the project and not the author, just the opposite of what other magazines care about. T-18 will be quarterly and gather architecture, landscape design, critics, construction techniques and a humanistic point of view we think Architecture has lost. " The magazine is completely free, thanks to the help of sponsors, in this first issue CatalunyaCaixa, Cortizo, Cosentino, Figueras and Gradhermetic, although there are more sponsors interested in collaborating in the next issue. During the event some welcome videos were played: one from Mercè Conesa, Mayoress of Sant Cugat, where T-18 has its headquarters. Another from Sergio Aguilar, a Catalan architect living in Chile, who is a permanent contributor that gives, through his section "The Hideout", a humanist view of Architecture. It was also explained how to use the website or the way to download the magazine, everything very simple and intuitive, and finally a note from Juan Rosell, President of the CEOE, was read. In it he encouraged and congratulated the editors of this new project, which in his opinion has many components for success. While many magazines exist, many also about architecture and some downloadable, we did not know, until now, none with this format, downloadable and, above all, and it is really a sign of identity, free. Maybe we are on the verge of a new way to understand the business of publishing. Only time will tell. At the moment we have the first issue. We encourage readers, whether or not of the sector, to read it and judge for themselves. It is not necessary to subscribe to view or download. As the saying goes, a picture paints a thousand words. Primer número, Verano 2011, disponible 1st issue, Summer 2011, available June 29th 2011 Nota de prensa, resultados de T18 Magazine Press release, results of T18 Magazine Después de dos semanas de existencia, t18magazine, la primera revista digital de arquitectura gratuita Española, ha recibido más de 10.000 entradas repartidas en los 5 continentes y tiene suscriptores en más de 30 países, como España, Italia, Portugal, Alemania, Francia, Gran Bretaña, Bélgica, Suecia, Dinamarca, Finlandia, Grecia, USA, Canadá, México, Panamá, Colombia, Chile, Brasil, República Dominicana, Argentina, Venezuela, Singapur, Japón o Australia, por poner algunos ejemplos. El número de suscripciones crece a un ritmo de 150 a la semana. Alrededor del 65% de entradas son en territorio español, con suscripciones en toda la Península, Islas Canarias, Baleares o Ceuta, repartidos en más de 40 ciudades de todo el país. Está colgada en diferentes blogs y foros de arquitectura de EEUU, Japón, Grecia, y España, compartiendo lista de revistas de arquitectura con algunas de gran prestigio en todo el mundo, como 2G, Abitare, Domus, Architectural Review, o A+U. Desde el diario de mayor difusión en Tel Aviv se han interesado en buscar colaboraciones con t18magazine. De esta manera, t18 pone en marcha la mayor parte de los objetivos marcados para los próximos 6 meses. Además, en breve se colgará en la web de t18 la colaboración con una obra social, como parte del compromiso empresarial que de partida ha apostado la revista, tal como comentaron los editores el día de su presentación en sociedad el pasado 29 de junio de 2011, en el auditorio de Catalunya Caixa, en el edificio de la Pedrera de Barcelona. July 14th 2011 After two weeks of existence, t18magazine, the first free digital architecture magazine with headquarters in Spain, has received over 10,000 entries spread over 5 continents and has subscribers in over 30 countries, like Spain, Italy, Portugal, Germany, France, Britain, Belgium, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Greece, USA, Canada, Mexico, Panama, Colombia, Chile, Brazil, Dominican Republic, Argentina, Venezuela, Singapore, Japan or Australia, to mention a few. The number of subscriptions is growing at a rate of 150 a week. About 65% of entries are in Spanish territory, with subscriptions in over 40 cities around the country. T18magazine has been linked to many architecture blogs in USA, Japan, Greece, Spain, sharing architecture magazine lists with other magazine of great prestige worldwide as 2G, Abitare, Domus, Architectural Review, or A+U. The most widely distributed newspaper in Tel Aviv is interested in making a partnership work with t18magazine. Thus T18 starts most of its objectives set for the first 6 months. Carta del Presidente de la Generalitat de Cataluña Letter from the President of the Generalitat of Catalonia Es todo un placer dar mi bienvenida a esta nueva publicación que acaba de surgir, T18 Magazine, una revista que quiere dar a conocer el mundo de la construcción, la arquitectura, el paisaje y el diseño desde varios puntos de vista, con vocación crítica y con espíritu de servicio. La ilusión de Xavier Alba y Octavio Mestre se convirtió primero en un proyecto y más tarde se ha convertido en una realidad, una realidad al servicio del colectivo de profesionales de la arquitectura, la promoción y la construcción, uno de los colectivos que está sufriendo de manera más directa los efectos de la actual situación de crisis económica. Creo que es del todo necesario, pues, que aproveche esta oportunidad para felicitar a los impulsores y creadores de T18 Magazine por el empuje, el coraje y la valentía que han tenido para hacer realidad su sueño en una época adversa y no demasiado propicia para proyectos como el suyo, basados en la gratuidad del producto y el uso de las nuevas tecnologías. Artur Mas July 21st 2011 It is a pleasure to give my welcome to this new publication that has just emerged, T18 Magazine, a magazine that aims to discover the world of construction, architecture, landscape and design from various perspectives, with a critical-minded spirit of service. The illusion of Xavier Alba and Octavio Mestre became first a project and later a reality, a reality in the service of the professional group of architecture, promotion and construction, one of the groups that is suffering more directly the effects of the current economic crisis. I think it's absolutely necessary, therefore, seize this opportunity to congratulate the promoters and creators of T18 Magazine for the spirit, courage and bravery needed to make this dream become true, in a time adverse for projects like theirs, based on a free product and the use of new technologies. I would also like to thank the people and companies that have someway collaborated and the support given to make possible the success of the magazine. Artur Mas Segundo número, 02 Otoño 2011, disponible 2nd issue, Autumn 2011, available September 30th 2011 Convenio con Sonrisas de Bombai Agreement with Mumbai Smiles El pasado 18 de noviembre de 2011, firmamos un convenio con la ONG, SONRISAS DE BOMBAY. El objetivo de la firma de este convenio es doble: - Por un lado ser solidarios con los menos afortunados. Pensamos que cualquier empresa que se cree en el primer mundo no debe olvidar que otros no han tenido este oportunidad. Apostamos por fomentar la creación de empresas solidarias, actuando allí donde se necesite. Cualquier lugar en bueno, cualquier colectivo es válido, siempre que haya necesidad de ayuda. Además desde t18magazine alentamos a que otras empresas apuesten por convertirse también en empresas solidarias. - En segundo lugar, buscar interacciones entre t18, sus lectores y SONRISAS DE BOMBAY, proponiendo acciones, cuyo resultado pueda concretarse en una actuación real en alguno de los Slums de Bombay. Buscaremos con esta operación un triple efecto: generar un debate cultural con la concreción de un proyecto redactado por nuestros lectores, materializar dicho proyecto en una aplicación especifica en un Slum de Bombay (como prueba piloto antes de ver la viabilidad de ampliarlo a otros Slums) y por último que todo ello genere beneficios económicos y sociales en la comunidad donde se implemente. The purpose of this agreement is twofold: - Firstly, to show solidarity with those less fortunate. We believe that each new company created in the first world it can't forget others haven't had this opportunity. We are committed to promote solidarity companies, and we will work wherever needed. Any place is good; any group is valid, provided there is need of help. From t18magazine, we encourage other companies to become on solidarity Companies. - Secondly, we look for interactions between t18magazine, its readers and MUMBAI SMILES. We will want propose actions, whose outcome will materialize into real actions in one of Mumbai's Slums. With this operation we pretend a triple effect: creating a cultural debate, with realization of a draft designed by our readers. Carry out a particular project for a specific application in a Mumbai Slum (as a pilot test before seeing the viability of extending in other Slums) and finally, to generate an economic and social benefits in the community where it is implemented. El concurso está patrocinado por Hewlett Packard y Saint Gobain. T18Magazine is organizing an International Architecture Competition which is open to architects, designers and students anywhere in the world. The idea is for participants to submit specific proposals for a construction using a modular system in two different categories. The competition is being sponsored by Hewlett Packard and Saint Gobain.
